No one denies the comraderie among the groups; however there are some important strategic differences in jihad. Mullah Omar (Al Mo'Mineen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan) in his annual Eid address had this to say again this year (as he did last year on this issue).
2- "To the heroic protective mujahideen in the trenches:"
"Your defeat to the enemy is a result of Allah's support to you. When you make the grace of Allah and the servitude of your people [goals] in front of your eyes, in exchange for this Godly blessing, then Allah will give your other blessings also, and the foot of your enemy will slip, and you will be rewarded with defeating the biggest imperialistic power in this century."
"And the signs of this victory have appeared Allah-willing."
"Apply upon yourselves the commands of Allah, raised and glorified, entirely, and be aware to unite and support each other in the ranks, and avoid repulsion and divergence, and obey your superiors in the affairs of Jihad, and be aware to reserve the general property and especially during your operations, and focus on the martyrdom operations against the occupying enemies and their cooperatives, and their important interests, and avoiding the general public when killing and injuring is the responsibility of every believers, because targeting the general public with killing and wounding is a prohibited matter in Sharia—in any condition—and it is a matter which our Hanif faith doesn't condone at all."
"The deceiver wants to carry out big bloody bombings in the name of martyrdom operations, in places of crowdedness like religious centers, and mosques and the likes, and that's to discredit the mujahideen's reputation, so the mujahideen must pay attention to this deceit and to strongly avoid operations that are similar to those, and make your first priorities that your deeds are to gain the grace of Allah, raised and glorified, and then benevolence towards your oppressed people, and to give the elderly and sheikhs respect and appreciation. You also must sympathize with the youngsters, and give importance to truthful justice in bringing rights back to the deserving people, and comply with complete care to the origins and banners of the Islamic Emirate, so your Jihadist affairs may go forth in a well manner."
"Abide by the affairs of the Shura [or Council], and in taking strong decisions, and benefit from the experiences when working on military operations and deterring the complaints and limiting the losses, and other Jihadist matters, to avoid convulsions, and take protecting your own lives into consideration."
"Respect the rights of those who surrender to your from the law-breakers, and this series has just begun, and praise due to Allah."
"Just as the Soviet Forces, when they were defeated against the Mujahideen, and in avenging their loss, created local militias—in order to cause convulsion within the ranks of the Afghani people and create national and ethnic conflicts amongst them—the defeated American forces, when it got defeated, repeated the losing Soviet experience; thus, punish those with these kinds of plots to be an example for others."
Now, Tehrik-i-Taliban have claimed responsibility for the bombing of the Parade Lane Mosque.

One of them blew himself up on the ground floor of the mosque, another threw 4 hand grenades into the second prayer hall before detonating himself on the stairs. After the hand grenades were thrown, then there was shooting into the crowd, It was almost end of the sermon by khateeb and people were preparing for the 'Farz Prayer, Eye witnesses believe that two grenades landed in the men's section of the mosque and another where women were offering prayers. The upper storey accommodated mostly children and other youngsters and many among them went missing after the incident, eyewitnesses believe.
Army soldiers rushed to take position near the site of the attack and fought back in an hour-long gunfight and killed four attackers.
Now then, Mullah Omar has specifically said that mujahids are not to do such things as mosques. How do we reconcile this important difference between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Taliban and TTP whose beliefs are closer to Al Qaida's?
